Cuban left-hander Aroldis Chapman hit 100 mph at least three times during his spring training debut Monday, throwing two scoreless innings during the Cincinnati Reds’ 14-5 victory over the Kansas City Royals.
Chapman was clocked at 100 mph while pitching for Cuba during the World Baseball Classic II last spring.
Aroldis Chapman lit up the radar gun in his first Cactus League outing for the Cincinnati Reds, living up to all the advance billing, and then some.
The Cuban left-hander hit triple digits twice on a scout’s radar gun – topping out at 102 mph – in pitching two scoreless innings in the Reds’ home exhibition Monday against the Kansas City Royals. He struck out three of his last four batters.
