In their first game at the 2010 International Cup, being played in Taichung, Chinese Taipei, the Cuban baseball squad easily defeated today the contingent from the Czech Republic by the score 18-0. The contest was shortened to six innings, due to the mercy rule in effect in IBAF competitions.
Cuba’s slugger Alfredo Despaigne went three for five, including two home runs, and five runs batted in. The winning pitcher was Freddy Asiel Alvarez. He went five innings and struck out five. Robelio Carrillo pitched as a reliever on the six inning.
